The world of Dark Past

Dark Past the Online Tabletop Role-Playing Game
Dark Past is a fantasy role-playing game that invites you into a rich, immersive world of adventure, conflict, and choice. Whether you’re playing in person with friends, using your mobile device or computer for quick access to your digital character sheet, or gathering online through your favourite video conferencing app, Dark Past is designed to fit the way you want to play.
At its core, role-playing is a shared storytelling experience. One player takes on the role of the Storyteller, guiding the world, its people, and its unfolding drama. The other players become characters of their own creation, living and acting within that world. Together, they shape the story’s twists and turns through their decisions, challenges, and triumphs — a narrative crafted collaboratively, where no two adventures are ever the same.
The world of Dark Past is set on Irithay, a land of vast beauty and danger, focused on the sprawling continent of Andea. This seemingly endless expanse of forests, plains, towering mountains, tranquil lakes, bustling towns, and hidden villages teems with intelligent species, monstrous creatures, and the mysteries of nature. But you arrive at a time of great turmoil. Andea is a land divided, split into three powerful factions, each struggling to shape the future — toward victory, peace, or ruin.
Will you and your party of misfits take up the cause of light, walk the shadowy path of darkness, or follow a more uncertain trail, guided by shades of grey?

The lands of Andea
In the heart of the world of Irithay lies Andea, a continent as ancient as time itself, teeming with life in every form imaginable. From the tiniest whispering insects hidden beneath the forest floor to towering leviathans that roam the oceans and skies, Andea pulses with the breath of countless sentient species, beasts, and creatures beyond reckoning. Here, the natural world defies limits—giants stride across storm-wracked highlands, while swarms of glittering ants build empires beneath the earth. It is a land of extremes, where jagged mountains claw at the heavens, endless deserts stretch beyond sight, and vast plains roll like seas of green and gold.
Among this wild splendor rise cities of impossible scale—sprawling metropolises that stretch for hundreds of miles, home to millions and crowned by great constructions, monuments to ambition and power. Yet, beyond their walls, Andea remains untamed, a land of peril and promise. From shadowed valleys to sun-scorched wastes, there lies a wilderness vast and waiting, filled with ancient mysteries and hidden dangers, where only the bold dare tread—and fewer return.
Magic is the lifeblood of Andea, an invisible weave that threads through every stone, every tree, every breath of wind. It is not a force apart from the world, but part of its very fabric—woven into the bones of the earth, humming in the heartbeats of all living things. Some creatures are born of it, not merely touched by magic, but made from it, their existence inseparable from the flows and tides of power that shape the land. For many, magic is as essential as air or water, guiding the rise of civilizations, the forging of weapons, and the telling of time.
Binding this vast world together is the ancient network of Leylines—rivers of raw, coursing energy that crisscross the continent beneath mountains, cities, and seas. These luminous paths allow those who know their secrets to traverse impossible distances in the blink of an eye, stepping between places separated by weeks or months of hard travel. Great spires and conduits rise where the lines converge, cities and temples built around these foci of power, their people attuned to the currents flowing beneath their feet. To walk the Leylines is to touch the pulse of Irithay itself, to be carried by the same magic that breathes life into the world and bends reality to its will.
The world of Andea is home to a dazzling array of species, each as diverse and extraordinary as the land itself. From the mighty mountain halls of the Dwarves to the shadowed forests of the secretive Wood Elves, from the vast, war-torn human kingdoms to the soaring cloud-cities of the bird-like Avious, every corner of the continent hums with life, culture, and conflict. Some species claim ancient bloodlines—noble, proud, and bound by tradition—while others wander free, carving their destinies from the wilds. And there are those who have Fallen, twisted by darkness, their purpose set against the light of the living world.
Magic flows through them all, shaping bodies, minds, and histories. Some are born of it, living embodiments of the world’s deep weave. Others wield it with skill or fear it from afar. Across Andea, the threads of fate pull these species together and tear them apart, their struggles and triumphs echoing in the windswept plains, the endless deserts, and the cities that stretch beyond the horizon. Heroes and villains rise from every species, each with a story waiting to be written, a path waiting to be walked.
A Hero’s purpose
You awaken from a dream so vivid, so excruciating, you’re no longer certain it was a dream at all. A voice—immense and terrible—had echoed endlessly, questioning you, reshaping you. It tore you apart and reassembled you, over and over, your answers twisting your very soul each time. No… it wasn’t just a dream. You’re sure of it. Every nerve in your body screams, and the pain stirs something—a memory? Or a ghost of one?
Was there a battle? A woman wreathed in fire, hurling flames like spears? You fought, you’re sure of that. Side by side with a ragged band of misfits you dared to call friends. You fell. Yes, you remember falling. You were a hero once—a warrior of the people. Weren’t you? Did you truly die? And if so… why are you here now?
Another voice lingers, softer this time—smooth, soothing, but coiled with deceit. They gave you these clothes, these weapons. Sold them to you, or perhaps… gifted them? They smiled as you accepted, far too pleased with the bargain struck.
A harsh light sears your eyes as you return, blinking into a town alive with motion. Faces turn. Eyes widen. Children scatter at the sight of you.
Who are you?
Where is this place?
And why does it feel like you’ve lived this moment before?
